Don't want to eat!
15 Answers
Hi all, as some of you are aware this is my first pregnancy and I am seven weeks gone, aside from sleeping enormous amoutns I feel pretty ok, apart from my appetite has dropped when I thought it would go the other way.
I am physically forcing myself to eat three meals a day, I haven't been sick or anything like that but the thought of food is making me feel queasy, and it is taking me ages to eat anything (an hour to eat my cereal!) because I don't really want it. I just don't feel hungry even when I know I should be. Did / does anyone else experience this?

do you crave anything?
as your body's adjusting with these changes, and is telling you what it needs rather than what you want? perhaps
i had ridiculous cravings for mince, shepards pie, etc so the iorn content was what my body was craving whilst pregnant.
although its difficult, persevere with all variety of foods, especially fruit. but if you still feel like this in a week go to Dr for checks. radio. xx

Helow,
I'm 19wks now and I felt the same as you do now up to around 14 wksand I still can't eat chinese take away!!!
I found chicken soup a great comfort, I lived off chicken soup and still really enjoy it actually. But, everyone finds pregnancy different. You might find a certain meal enjoyable now, if you do don't stop yourself from eating it 3 times a day, at least you'll be eating.
Good luck and remember to drink plenty of water.

Amazing..... we are both called natalie both born in 1982 and both 7 weeks pregnant. Where do you live, i live in Bolton, England.
I am the same forcing myself to eat although i am constantly feeling sick all day every day for the last week. Hopefully this will pass in a few weeks and we will start to bloom as it is really starting to depress me when i should be really happy.

I had exactly the same, i lived on mars bars and toast, i couldn't face anything with a sauce all the way through and for some considerable time afterwards.
Luckily I developed a craving for pineapple, ate it by the tin ful. My son is now 5, does really like sauce on anything, prefers it dry and would eat pineapple at every meal

Im 8 weeks and my appetite went from about 6 1/2 weeks. I agree with most people when they say there may be specific food which you actually enjoy, with me its marmite on toast and smokey bacon crisps. Id suggest taking a multi vitamin to make sure you are getting all you need, i am taking Pregnacare. My favourite food is pasta and at the moment i couldnt think of anything worse...hope that doesnt last long!! Also get a pack of ginger biscuits, they help the queasy feeling and the tummy rumbles! x
Hey swift, I live just outside Oxford. When is your Birthday? Mine is Nov 9th.
I know exactly what you mean, so far I have had all of the negative pregnant side effects - sleeping for an eternity, feeling sicky and not wanting to eat, headaches, a bit spotty, bloated, etc. I can't wait for it all to stop and start feeling nice things!

Sleeping for an eternity? I wish I had that symptom! lol I only get cat naps these days..thats day and night!
When I was around 6-7 weeks, I found I would just keep wanting the same thing over and over til I got fed up of it, then I would move onto something else. It didnt last long though and now I am back to normal....ish lol
If it is taking you so long to eat a meal, have you thought of having four smaller meals instead? Maybe a light breakfast, light lunch, something heavier in the afternoon/early evening and something later in the evening.

Oh yes! it's horrible isn't it ! You will have lots of vitamins stocked up in your body so don't panic too much... I liked Rice pudding which was quite calming on the tummy. and had to keep a pack of ginger biscuits by my bed when i woke up at night... i wasn't actually sick as long as I had something in my tum, so was constantly munching on small stuff.... soup is quite good, chicken soup, vegetable soup,.... oh... and rice krispies at 3am.. as long as you eat healthy stuff when you do eat.. just go with the flow, if it takes you an hour to eat cereal then so be it.... and sleep as much as you feel you want... in the beginning id feel sickly from around 4pm to 9pm and then a couple of months in ALL DAY, but it went at about 4 months. (most embarrasing moment - opening the car door in a traffic jam to be sick - in front of the number 79 bus) good luck
