How often would/do you see your midwife?
I was just wondering as to what the average or norm is. I had my booking in appointment back at the start of July and didnt have my second midwife appointment til today. My next appointment isnt until the end of November! I thought you see your midwife every four weeks not every two months!
Is this normal these days?

You will probably see your midwife more towards the last few weeks before the baby is due. I saw one midwife at my booking in appointment and then a different midwife when I had my first ante natal appointment in the doctors which was after my 20 week scan. And then another different midwife towards the end of my pregnancy. Years ago when my mum had me and my brothers she had appointment regularly, nowdays they dont make so much as a fuss, unless there are complications.

i've only seen my midwife 4 times since I got pregnant. I'm 31 weeks now. The longest gap I had was from May 31st to August 7th. When I do see her I'm only in there 5 minutes. Saw a different midwife last time I went and had to tell her I hadn't had the blood test I was supposed to of had 3 weeks before. So now I'm telling her her job!!!
Thanks for the answers ladies. With my daughter, I saw the midwife every month to begin with then this became more regular and at the end I saw her once a week. I guess they just let us get on with it now then? lol
red, Im 16 weeks and dont see her again til Im 24 weeks, it seems like a lifetime! The only consolation is I will be having my 2nd scan a month before my next appointment so will get to know then that everything is still going ok.
Spanner they do seem to be useless when it comes to the blood tests. I had mine done at 12 weeks and theyve lost some of my results! All I know is my blood group and that Im still immune to german measles!

Hi Psychick
baby_woo is nearly 8 weeks old already! We're doing really well, last week he weighed 11lbs. He's sleeping from 10pm - 4am and then until 7.30am so I'm not a zombie. I have a Facebook account and there's an album dedicated to his cute little face, if you want to have a look then search for liz woolhead and add me as a friend with a little note explaining who you are (I don't accept random people as friends).
Got the first set of injections next Tues which I'm not looking forward to but I've been advised to stock up on Calpol and give him lots of cuddles.
It sounds like you're doing really well. I'm sorry I can't remember when you're due.
Hope to hear from you soon x

This is something that has bothered me as I am pregnant with my first and so have not been through ths whole process before. I am now 11 weeks pregnant (tomorrow) and stil haven't met my midwife! My appt with her is 21st Sept, the only others I have seen was my doctor to confirm my pregnancy and nurse for my blood tests.
I don't know what happens or when or anything like that and haven't been given any info. I've gone out and brought a book so I know what to expect and things but it would be nice to see somebody a bit sooner so I would know what little aches and pains are normal, what I should avoid, etc.
I guess it's just a case of overworked NHS though.

Glad to hear everything is going so well for you and baby woo! I havent got facebook myself but my boyfriend has, would you acept an add from him, would love to see the little one! My daughter had no problems when it came to her injections, she would have a quick cry then go to sleep and wake up like nothing had happened!! Im due 25th February........too long to go! lol
natalie when you see your midwife she will give you a book and lots of info. She should also give you some numbers you can call if you have any queries between appointments. Plus you have all the new and old mums on here more than happy to help :) I didnt even have to see my doctor to confirm my pregnancy! lol Im 16 weeks and seen my midwife twice, not seeing her again til Im 6 months! Im going through this for the second time but it still feels like the first time!

Ive actually realised that Ive not even been informed of any ante natal classes they may be happening in my area! As this is my second, Im not really too concerned though and pretty much already have an idea of how I want to do things when it comes to the birth but still, you would think they would have at least told me where they are if I did want to go wouldnt you? lol
i had my booking in appointment yesterday. Looks like i may have more appointments as they want me under shared cared (midwife and hospital) following a slight problem with my sons birth.
I got big pack with my notes and in there was a list of parentcraft classes just in case i want a refresher course.
