Blood Pressure
Hello, i have just been to my 16 week midwife app and everything seems to be ok although i was advised that my blood pressure should be lower and they want to see me in 2 weeks to keep check on it.
Is this anything for me to be concerned about or is it quite normal at this stage in pregnancy? Anything I can do do help?

Of course it may have been high because you werent rested and had rushed to clinic or because you were nervy at the clinic. Mine was always slightly high.
A tip i was given by another pregnant woman who had gone through similar was that grapefruit juice can lower BP, although im not sure how true this is.
Go back in 2 weeks, its obviously not high enough for them to be concerned at the moment, they are just keeping tabs on it.

I had pre eclampsia which developed into full eclampsia in my first pregnancy, the high blood pressure didn't start until I was around 30 weeks pregnant,if you also had protein in your urine then that is definitely what the midwife will be monitoring you for.
I wouldn't worry too much though as it could just be like redcrx said about you rushing etc. If you want to know what to take to safely lower your blood pressure you should phone the midwife and ask her.

well as long as the midwife is keeping a check on you, i wouldnt worry but if you start feeling unwell at all you should have number on your ante natal that you can contact, or if not just turn up to the maternity dept at you local hospital and they will see you and check you over, maybe even put you on a mzchine to check everything out.
