I know those who have tried but would you really know what you were doing??

A midwife wont perform one until past due date either because of the allowance on dates.

Im my own opinion I wouldnt even consider a DIY sweep.

Try all the other mothods and make sure baby is in correct position. Thatd be the best way to go into labour when baby is ready.
I cannot even imagine performing a sweep on myself..not that I have had a midwife do it..it isn't the easiest practice to perform on yourself, surely..and can be quite uncomfortable from what I have heard!

You shouldn't have long to wait. In the great big scheme of things another fortnight isn't too long to wait ;o)

sarah-jayne, I really wouldnt attempt this if I was you. What if you do it wrong and cause a problem putting yourself or your baby at risk? Sorry, I dont mean to scare you, but this really isnt something you should be attempting, especially as you havent even gone over your due date yet. We all understand how the waiting feels, I went 10 days over with my daughter and was induced and with this one, Im only 33 weeks and already wish it was over and baby was here in my arms.
No you can't do it yourself- I had this done when pregnant with Mini Boo and believe me the sweep is done way too far up for you to be able to perform this yourself.
I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. I had two sweeps when I was pregnant and neither triggered labour anyway. Its just not worth the risk.

Hope your LO comes along soon
I have been thinking about how it's done, BOO. Wouldn't you have to be a contortionist or have very long arms?
sarah dont rush, let nature take its course, and when baby is ready, they will come out

just sarah-jayne here looks like i was getting way ahead of myself there, only 4 days to go now till d day, i suppose i have to just wait n see, thanks all for the answers anyway x x x
hope you arent waiting 17 days like i was.

Rest up as much as you can now and prepare yourself for the new arrival
Dont scare her red! lol Although I have never heard of anyone else going that far over. I was induced with my daughter and they would only let me go 10 days over, and this is still all they will let you go over, in my area and where my sister lives 200 miles away.

Good luck sarah-jayne, get lots of sleep in between now and babys birth and dont forget to come and announce your little ones arrival :)
its still 14 days at the QEH in kings lynn. Im hoping I will be at Rosies (addenbrooks) this time, but i wont be allowed to go over if baby large.

I went in at 14 days and they didnt manage to start my labour until the 16th day at 10pm. Still, bubs was born only 6 hours later so perhaps waiting means its quicker when it does happen.
Ooh, I wonder, I was induced and once established labour had started, my daughter was here in just over a few hours! I wonder if this one will be slower if I start off naturally? Hope not! lol
My daughter has a week to go till her due date and is feeling very restless as you are sarah-jayne.She has tried all the usual tricks to start labour(her BF has never had so much sex). I keep telling her the baby will come when he's good and ready but she is an impatient mare.lol.
I went 14 days over my due date, they did the sweep twice, I had sex, curry and a couple of rides in a very bumpy Landrover...all to no avail. I then bent over to put my shoes on and my waters broke...he still didn't appear for another 14 hours.
All babies eventually come out but usually in their own time. I'm afraid you'll just have to wait.
good luck
