Growth scan
Morning ladies and a happy new year.
Just back from Ireland and saw midwife yesterday. she is sending me for a growth scan today as height of fundus has not changed since measured at 28 weeks (29 cm), still 29 cm at 34 weeks.
Has anyone else had this? they are also going to plot a growth chart, anyone had this either?
thanks

I am sure all is ok as baby is still moving and kicking away like billy-oh and from what I have read the main concern is lack of oxygen through the placenta which leads to small babies and less active babies, mine is still very active - probably cos its got loads of room. Also the midwife mentioned that older mums generally had smaller babies cos they were 'knackered' (her word, not mine), I just burst out laughing as that is exactly how I feel!
I'll let you know what they say later on.

Hi warpig, happy new year to you too.
I cant help you out either Im afraid, last time I was only measuring 1cm smaller but when I see the midwife on Monday, I had caught up again. Feels like Im twice the size I should be though! lol
As baby is still so active, Im sure there really isnt anything to worry about and is probably as your midwife has said, it happens with older mums. Enjoy the opportunity of getting to see your baby again at the scan, I would love to have another scan just to see how my baby is getting on in there :)

Thanks psychick, I am looking forward to see baby again, was a little disappointed last time when I was told that there would be no more scans.
Also, I don't look that small when I am standing, more neat than anything, but when I lie down my tummy goes fairly flat and I am under the impression that the baby is lying across rather than up and down.
Guess I will wait and see what they say this afternoon.

Hi ladies, I had my 28 week appt this morning and was 28cm. I didn't know what that meant though so had to ask her lol!
Warpig, I wouldn't worry, I seem to be carrying like you - when I am stood up the bump is neat and football like and all at the front, but when I lay down it disappears! I think he / she / it is sat quite far back - when I had my 12 and 20 week scans they said that that was the case. I wish I could have another scan before the big day! Good luck with everything, am glad that your little one is kicking away and keeping you on your toes x x

Well good news girls, think they told me what every parent wants to hear - your child is AVERAGE!!!!!!!!! lol.
Her weight is estimated at between 4lb 6oz and 4 lb 13 oz which is about what it should be at this stage, the amnotic fluid is estimated at 16 units, again about average and they measured her femur, abdomin, head etc, plotted them on a graph and guess what, they are all average! The only thing that is not average is the size of my bump but thats just one of those things. The midwife has to keep an eye on me for a couple of weeks but other than that everything is fine. Phew.

lol red is right, the list of worries we have are endless!
Im pleased everything is fine warpig and make the most of having a little bump, if youre like I was first time round, my bump suddenly exploded at about 8 months! lol This time it exploded at about 5 months!!! But in comparison with the charts they plot, when I had my second scan, the only thing that was average was the abdomen. Everything else was almost off the scale at the big end!
