Clomid

Hi,
I have been prescribed Clomid today as, since stopping taking my pill almost a year, ago I havent been having regular periods and thus, not ovulating.
I've had scans and blood tests to check for polycystic ovaries which have come back negative.
All my fingers and toes are crossed that this will work!
I wondered if anyone had taken this or knows anyone who has and whether its been a success?? Also how long it took if it worked?

Hi Lollyone

My wife had to take Clomid as part of the preparation for IVF treatment. It is simply a stimulant to the ovaries thereby hopefully making them release eggs in a more controlled manner.

Its a fairly short course of two weeks, I seem to remember so not too long. One word of not though, she did have quite bad cramps when she was ovulating which was worse than normal pains.

Hi tigersam, I've been told to take them only 5 days a month for 6 months though so must be slightly different than with IVF.
I'll look forward to the cramps then! At least I'll know when I'm ovulating!

iv just found out having clomid, thers a high chance ul have twins :s

Hi Kazza, Yeah i know. On the leaflet it says increased risk of multiple pregnancies!! That would be about our luck if I had 5! Lol! I'd love twins though.

Clomid CAN cause a multiple pregnancy, although it's less likely to than some other drugs used.
