While we're on the subject of pregnancy, my sister in law told me last night the skin on her tummy hurts. Her stretch marks are hurting and she feels like her belly button is going to rip open. She's putting oil on it but it's not helping, any tips I can pass on to her?
The feotus will attach itself to any part of the reproductive organs and the placenta growns there. Ectopic pregnancies usually end in miscarriage because the growth of baby causes ruptures. Thats why that baby was so special. There have been cases of births like that but they are very rare.

Oh and the afterbirth isnt so bad unless it gets stuck. By the time baby has been born the soft placenta usually just needs a gentle tug an it slips out. Mum is usually too busy gazing at new arrival to really notice.

Crikey i even accept the injection stabbed into my leg without complaining by that stage :)
how far gone is she lakitu? It sounds like baby is having a growth spurt or has changed position slightly.
Theres not really anything she can do to stretch her skin but it might be wise for her to call midwife for advice.
She's due on Tuesday. He has been low in her tummy for about 1 week now.
oh poor thing. Those last few weeks are so tiring, her midwife may well be able to come up with ideas?

Is the tight feeling all the time or could it be practise contractions?
I just sent her a text asking, she replied that it's just some of the time
ask her to call her midwife for a chat. It could be braxton hicks but without knowing exactly what it feels like i wouldnt know.

Her midwife will be able to advise.
Oh, I assumed it was because her skin was so stretched, I'll let her know what you said, thank you xx
all i can say was with my 2 when i got a braxton hicks contraction my whole tummy went so tight you could bounce a snooker ball off of it. There was no give in the skin at all.
Question Author
redcrx why didnt you tell me I could have bounced a snooker ball off it? I would have tried at mums :-)
I've just passed what you said on to her, thank you very much xx
4get, i may have been 9 months pregnant but you bounce a snooker ball off my bump and id have hunted you down!
Question Author
You wouldnt have hunted me down on your feet I bet :-) lol
Ah, reading through everyons posts has brought some memories but made me giggle too! I know have images of a heavily pregnant red chasing after 4get with a snooker cue! lol

I had no choice but to see the placenta with my second because I happened to be looking in that direction when I delivered it! It also took me 10 times longet to deliver the placenta than it did the baby lol

Lakitu, my stretch marks, at one point, looked like they were going to tear open! The skin was becoming very thin and I could see veins of blood under the skin! I did check with the midwife and she said all I could do was keep them moist. I would rub in lotion rather than oil as this also cooled them with eased the itching and soreness.
Question Author
do you reckon someones belly could explode?
That's exactly what her tum looks like, I let her know about the lotion too, thank you xx
no, they couldnt explode sis, but those witha prvious c-sect scar can have a rupture
Question Author
yer I know that can happen, eeeeuuugh
anyone seen k8 or is another baby on the way?
K8 has posted today, I don't remember which thread btu I did see her :)
