i think mine may be starting to swell, im blaiming the rain and soggy shoes but could be pregnancy related. How dangerous is it? other than putting my feet up is there anything i can do to prevent it?

ive been doing the ankle exercises when i go to bed but is that the wrong time to be doing it??

If it is pregnancy related you are doing the right thing by putting your feet up when you can. I don't think it's dangerous per se (I had this in both my pregnancies) but should be kept an eye on. By the way my swollen ankles disappeared completely as soon as I gave birth but I'm afraid I'm still prone to it in hot weather for example although I blame being slightly overwieght although not excessively so.
How far along are you? My ankles began to swell towards the end of the pregnancy, but I have a friend who had it all the way through. I would just elevate my feet and drink plenty of water (apparently drinking water helps flush out retained water and thus reduces swelling), but I have to admit even resting my feet as and when I could and drinking lots of water didn't seem to help much I'm afraid, although, like scotgal, my ankles and feet went down within 24hours of giving birth.

Oh God- the swollen feet bit...I remember that. Mine swelled that much the skin all cracked and I couldn't bend my feet at all, they looked horrific and Mr Boo very lovingly said they looked like pigs trotters. If I could have moved them, and after his comments, I know where I'd have shoved them!
I had to buy a cheapy pair of velcro trainers 2 sizes bigger than I normally take as I couldn't get any of my shoes on, and as if it wasn't bad enough that I looked like I was wearing calipers, I couldn't even get the velcro to meet some days!!

My poor friend spent the entire winter (her little girl was born in February) wearing flip flops!
