i had a T-safe coil fitted about a year ago and have had no problems with it, however my last 2 periods havent been what they usually are. I usually have 2-3 days heavy loss but the past 2 periods have been more like spotting and late followed with tiredness, slight nausea, and being off coffee, the last time i felt like this i was pregnant! Im going to do a test in a couple of days but the question im asking is how possible is it to 'catch' whilst on the coil, has this happened to any of you?

Id do a test now if i were you.

then speak to your GP or family planning nurse.

I think the coil failure rate is about 3-5%

hi dont want to worry you but. i fell pregnant with my last three children on the coil .ps all diffrent coils i may add the first two where basic coils my last child was the marina coil ment to be the best. i went for a smear test for two days i was i complete pain i went back and it turns out thay had moved the coil a little bit for four months i fet horrible all the time .when i went to the dr to get some blood took it turns out that i was four months pregnant (can you belive it the coil was only out of place for 2days).my dr told me i was very very fertile i think i allready know this as i have 5kids but i wouldent have it any other way hope this helps you and good luck
My second daughter was a `surprise' when I had a coil fitted. It had been in some years and I'd had no problem with it.

I went to the doctor because I thought I had the symptoms of an early menopause - but no I was pregnant.

hi all, thanks for your replies, it was a worrying time but im pleased to say im NOT pregnant which im very relieved about right now. Its not the right time at the moment for my partner and i but we have come to a comprimise and agreed to start trying next year. As we already have a boy and a girl i was happy to stop at the 2, but my partner was dissapointed with the negetive and confided in me that he was exicited at the prospect of being a dad again........i felt awful for him. thanks again for your advice xxx
