On Friday I have a midwife appointment I will be exactly 40 weeks pregnant. Can I request a sweep? Do I need to call her prior to arrange this? I had the show over a week ago, I've had irregular contractions since & she's 4/5's engaged..

they can let you go 2 weeks over they probably wont give you a sweep unless there is further complications e.g. high blood pressure or the babies in distress
you wouldnt need to call ahead, but a midwife may not want to do a sweep so early. You may be able to agree to one at 41 weeks should nothing have happened by then.

Of course you can request it.

Whether or not you would get it is a different matter.
no harm in asking! I had one at 40+5 but I was consultant led care, because of a heart condition, they didn't want me to go too far over, and were going to induce at 41+4 but she arrived at 41 weeks. Let us know how you get on!
I guess you will have had your wee one by know k8 - come on and let us know how you got on.
