i split with my ex partner at beginning of feb 2013....we are considering trying again but he will not be moving back in for at least another couple of months. I am recently getting single applicant tax credits weekly and was wondering if anyone knew what happens if an ex partner that i had a joint claim with beforehand next? What income information will they need and from what years?
Also will there be any overpayments?
Thanks

I was under the impression that tax credits are calculated on your previous years income. All I can say is be honest, tell the truth and you will get what you are entitled to whether you are a single claimant or a couple. If they over pay they will ask for it back.

When i split with my ex i told them straight away as children are involved and they told me if anyone was to start living with me again a new joint claim would start so surely they cant take back what they hsve paid me while i was single?
As long as you tell them once he moves it will be ok, they can not take back the payments you have recieved as you did the right thing and told them he had gone. When / if he moves back a new claim will start from that date.
