Most will say flowers and a Mothers day card.

What didn't make my day was "let the old lady go first she only has 2 things."

Old. Old. is 63 old. Well I expect it is when you're 7 ish. I could have throttled the mum though. Upset me for the day, no it didn't I just wish people would put their brain in to action before the put their mouth in gear..

I guess most of us occasionally are capable of not thinking before we speak. It is worse when there is an intention to offend someone. Cheer up, at least you were noticed - some of us are not :)
Finally getting my Mother's Day present at 7.20 pm. M&S are so thoughtful with their deliveries. Driver left it on the doorstep, rang the bell and scarpered. Saw him driving away.
In answer to your Q, Jeza - the sun shone warmly on us, the family were together, we laughed and shared memories. It was a lovely day.
I know things are tough for you but other people have stuff going on to, maybe the mum just had her own stuff going on. Doesn't help you feel better but it's not always as it seems.
All the family came round for dinner. We had an indoor barbecue. I had lots of cards, lots of pressies, including tickets for the Everyman Theatre, DVD of Sunshine over Leith, Alan Titchmarsh's latest book and a miniature rose bush
Didn't i do well!!!
We had a lovely time though I was shattered with all the cooking and sorting but all worth while.
Sorry you were miffed Jeza, you are too young to be called old!
lol Jeza. Years ago I caught the bus to the station to go to a business meeting in London.
I'd checked everything before leaving the house, very smart new suit, make-up immaculate, hair in a chignon, 4" stilletos. When I got on the very full bus a schoolboy got up and offered me his seat.............gutted!
That's the kind of thing I would make a joke about and I'm younger than you Jeza - I try never to let folk get me down.

Most of the time they don't mean harm.

Despite not having slept and having a rotten cold, my day was lovely, a bottle of fizz and a lovely roast dinner with my eldest daughter and 3 of my young uns.
He was offering his seat to a lady. Well brought up young man.
fizz,,,,,,,,,,a great cure for a cold :)
No, I am saving it for my hols Anne.
Aspro clear, I expect.
Jeza, I worked at the Trafford Centre before I retired and I went there on the bus, one day as I was going to work a couple of young women were sat in the seat in front of me with a toddler who was stood up and looking at me, this child was talking to me and because I couldn't understand quite what she was saying one of the young women ( who was perhaps her mum) said to the child...."it's an old lady"....I was devastated for the rest of the day.
I've had one of thee loveliest weekends looking after my nieces, however I didn't like having to tell one of them off for being naughty toward a kitten.

but phew I survived at being 42... and live to tell the tale. still catching breath
what made my day ? I felt my unborn grandchild in their mums tummy :)
At least you got through the checkout quicker Jeza ;)
I think the Mum was only trying to teach the child to be kind, and I suppose being in our 60s IS old to a child .................
