He WAS the worse Foreign Secretary for decades and it was a good day when he was removed.

Well spotted, missed that completely, but may I correct you? He wasn't sacked he quit.

People in high office of Foreign Secretary do not quit unless they have to because of scandal. Hague was terrible as Foreign Secretary and was mostly to blame for the acutely embarrassing Commons defeat over Syria which infuriated Cameron. It would have been an admission of weakness for Cameron to sack Hague, so he did everyone a favour, and fell on his sword.
