its mothers day in three weeks, i was wondering what to buy her. She has early stage alzheimers and flowers always seem a cop out.

I get rather *** off(though not with you emmie) when it gets near Mother's Day.Why,well both I and my OH have no living parents,but we get bombarded with suggestions of what to buy.As we have no children the suggestions can't work in reverse.Indeed I lost both my parents at the same time(in 1974,I was 27) in a car crash.So being reminded forcibly of the day brings back sad memories.Of course it doesn't matter as long as people buy things, far too commercialised in my opinion.

I only object when the media etc forgets that some people have no parents.

Sweets, chocs, fruit, CDs of her music choice. I hate cut flowers but potted are acceptible. I want a pear tree.....dug in ;)

i googled amazon and came up with lots of gifts, so will likely pick something from there.

she is not eating much due to her alzheimers, so no chocs i think, perhaps a potted plant, again..

Mum forbad me to spend money on overpriced flowers, so I began to buy her seed potatoes, seedlings etc., with which she was very happy.

If you have time and the resources make her a photobook of family members with their names under their photo. I have two relatives with dementia and they love their albums.

i did this some years ago. she has loads of albums now.
she tends to put things someplace and forget where they are.

Boo, she doesn't listen to music now, in fact she seems to quietly watch the tv all afternoon.

With my nan she loved crocheted blankets.
