My nephew turns four this weekend and my son has got him a nurse gun. And we got him head phones in the shape of a lions main.

Unicorns are all the rage. A special unicorn which lives with grandma? You could get associated headband and colouring books.

I expect she has all the Peppa Pig books, if not, they are very popular.
My granddaughter enjoyed also a Lost my name book. They are individual stories tailored for a particular name.

A bug hunting kit, there are some good ones in waterstones in combination with an activity book, they will do mini beasts at school so it's good preparation too. Usually have magnifier, net or special sucker trap. Great fun and helps with any anxiety about creepy crawlers.

4 year old - time for a mobile phone it seems these days.

Buy her a season ticket or day pass to Peppa Pig World in Ower, near Southampton, its located at Paultons Park, it really is a great day out for youngsters like her, I have grandchildren of the same age and visit the park often, we all have season tickets and certainly get our moneys worth.

Like DTC I was going to suggest paints and a couple of canvases (maybe an easel too). They are cheap in shops like The Works and who knows, she may create a masterpiece that will be worth millions in the future!

Thanks for all your suggestions ... went for els painting easel plus brushes and paint and stencils ca £100 but looks like it's pretty good .. I love this site
