I've been very poorly these past few months but on the mend now, my other half has been wonderful, he's done all the washing, ironing, cooking, cleaning, shopping and even changed the bed(I know girls I couldn't believe it either) running me to doctors and hospitals, so when I say everything I mean everything,I haven't had to lift a finger, but here's my dilemma, I would like to do something a little special for him to say thanks for all he's done, we're both in our late 50's so nothing ott like doing a" Zip-wire" but nothing boring like "going for a meal" We live in the beautiful county of Cumbria but one lake looks very much like another and the weather isn't great either right now but any ideas would be gratefully received, even if I have to wait a while till the weather improves, so in advance I thank you all
Week end away somewhere you haven't been before, afternoon tea on a heritage railway, if he has a hobby a visit to a specialist show or fair with no complaining as you walk round with him.
No No budget really, we're pretty home birds and have never been people to go out to be honest, can't go away as have dog and no-one to have him, and i couldn't put him in kennels, he likes his own company and what makes it even more of a pain is he doesn't like crowds of people
I couldn't help a little chuckle at your typo - I think SETTLE to Carlisle might be slightly cheaper.
What about a balloon flight over your beautiful Cumbrian landscape? A nice experience but be aware that they can be logically difficult to organise. We looked into it a few years ago; because of weather limitations they tend to be early morning or early evening (wind is usually less of a problem at those times), they can be postponed at the last minute because of the weather and you might just get a phone-call saying "tomorrow", although the voucher is valid for a year allowing several opportunities.
Make him his absolute favourite meal. Wear whatever it is you think he likes you in the best and play his favourite music. Then talk to him. Tell him exactly how much you appreciate what he has done for you these past few months and how much you love him for it. I do believe this will mean more to him than anything else.
What about one of those evening cruises on Windermere in the summer? They do three a course meal, and have entertainment on board. This would be on Teal, Swan and possibly Tern. Normally you can take dogs on these vessels, but would maybe check if you can in the evenings.
