What is your opinion about letting toddlers watch TV at such a young age? Did you watch a lot of TV growing up or did your parents monitor and limit your TV watching?
There wasn't much tv for toddlers to watch when I was little. Watch With Mother for 15 minutes a day was just about all there was.
TV should be monitored and limited for children.
There are some great programmes tailor made for little ones and if it gives everyone a half hour or so of time to breathe or prepare lunch then it's no bad thing - or you can watch with them.
It depends what sort of watching TV it is. If it's the sort where you sit down with them and talk to them about the programmes, it's fine. If it's the sort where you sit them down and tell them to "watch that whilst I play with my smartphone/chat to my friends and ignore you", it's wrong.
Like others nothing available when I was growing up. I didn't put TV on for my daughter when she was a toddler but she did watch and love a lot of Care Bear videos etc.
I remember being 6 years old and pleading with my mother to let me watch Cool For Cats. Other than that I don't remember much about TV when I was small.
Ha ha, we didn't even have electricity in our home when I was growing up - gas for lighting and cooking. Although I did see TV in friend's houses, I was in my early 20s before I rented my first b/w TV set.
I used to watch Bill and Ben, Andy Pandy and Rag, Tag and Bobtail when I was little. Remember them all with fond affection, don't think they did my any harm !
As a young child my parents allowed me unrestricted access to watching TV and everything I needed to know I learnt from the TV.
I saw my future (when I became an adult) travelling around in a camper van with a group of friends and a large dog – investigating murder mysteries, mostly at abandoned fairgrounds.
