I voted for biden in 2020, and I was gonna vote for him again, but my mom told me if I vote Democrat then she'll kick me out. She said she wouldn't let me vote for biden. Idk how she plans on doing that. don't want that to happen so I just wasn't going to vote, or vote independent.

Your right not to vote for someone you don't approve of is as important as your right to vote for someone you do approve of.

 

But the ballot box is secret, so why is there an issue who you vote for ? It isn't up to other people to try to force you to vote for the candidate they approve of.

Vote for who you want and then just tell your mother it's none of her business or tell her want she wants to hear.

The alternative is to tell her you voted Democrat and move out.

You should not be controlled like this as an adult.

The reason I think she'll find out who I voted for is because in 2020 she would have easily been able to look at my ballot, but she didn't. This time she almost definitely will.

Things are different here in the UK.

You go to your designated polling station, youo are given your ballot paper, you go to a private booth, place your cross on your paper, and place it in a ballot box. No-one knows how you voted.

It may be different there, and if your mother is going to see your vote, you have to choices, as advised - you can vote against your principles, or you can vote as you wish and see if your mother carries out her threat.

If you are old enough to vote, you are old enough to choose whom you vote for, and to have your choice as an adult respected.

If your mother controls your life to the point where she thinks she can dicate a fundamental principle like your vote, then you need seriously to think about moving out of home, because your mother has not adjusted to the fact that you are now an adult, and is not offering you the privacy to which, as an adult, you are entitled, living at home or not.

I hope you make a decision that works for you, but i think you should see this as an indicator, that it's time to move out and live somewhere else, so your mother can start to accept you are now an adult, and treat you accordingly - something that is not going to happen while you continue to live with her.

You're in your 30s and work so must have some independence. Just vote on the way to or from work. That way your mum can't see who you vote for. If she is there and looks over your shoulder cover up your paper as you vote or just shout loudly 'go away, it's a secret ballot'

How can your mother see your vote. If it is a mail vote take it to work and post it on your way home

she litteraly stood over my shoulder watching me. I could have either voted trump, or biden. I sure as he'll wasn't gonna vote for trump, and I didn't want her to know I voted for biden, so I just left it blank.
