Are you married?
it depends who has custody. parental rights etc.... your ex would need the childs birth certificate and pictures. any parent who has paental rights is able to take the child on holiday for one month without consent but needs permission for any longer than that. if you have custody i would ring the passport offce and state your concerns, they may be able to put a note on your childs name. they did with my daughter however i already had a passport for her.... goo luck..

I am divorced from my sons father, and i have sole custody.Dont get me wrong, i have no problems with him going on holiday with his Dad,as long as it is in this country. The bottom line is that i dont trust him. I did express my concerns to my solicitor at the time my divorce was going thro', and she advised me also to get in touch with the passport office..But what if in the future i want to get him a passport? Would i have to get his permission?
Why don't you get him a passport. They won't issue two for the same kid then you won't have to worry about it.
If you obtain a passport for him yourself, there is no way your ex can get another one. Just make sure you keep the passport in a safe place.
hi again,
no you wouldnt need his permision... please keep it in a safe place o would advise you get him one and then at least he cant apply himself. and dont worry im the same with my ex i keep my daughters passport in my mums safe!!! so your not beeing paranoid!!

take care..
My husband has tried to get a passport for his daughter (living with the mother) for years.
He sent all the paperwork (+ money) to the mother for her to sign, but always she's using the money for something else, and then tells him she's got no money to get the passport.
The girl is nearly 15, so she needn't worry about us abducting her, we just want her to come and visit us, but without his Ex's help he doesn't stand a chance...
