Got a wedding Saturday - don't want to wear a tie though. I am wearing a nice charcoal suit with a pale pink shirt - I think it look sfine without a tie, but the missus reckons that etiquette dictates I wear one. It is a church wedding but knowing the groom well I know he won't be bothered either way. Just need to guage opinions really.
where what you want. My bloke didnt wear a tie to last wedding we went to and he still looked smart. There was a goth there too and believe me he didnt wear a tie, he wore them massive platform boots with buckles all down the side.
You should wear a tie. If you are bothered by a feeling of constriction around the throat, which is quite common, buy a shirt that is one collar size larger than your normal.
The suit is more 'relaxed' than office wear. It is tailored so it does look really smart still. As opinion seems to be mixed I think I will go open necked.
I've been a best man at my mates wedding, and he asked if i could wear a red tie.
Of course i did, and delivered a stunning speach.
Then i was just about to sit down when the bride spilt her glass of red wine all down her dress. I tried not to laugh but she and everybody else were so i joined in.
Anyway some other stuff happened after that but i won't go into that now. The point is wear a tie if you feel comfortable in one.
Although it does fee like going to work for me, I would always wear a tie for the ceremony and the meal (the formal bits), then remove it for the evening session.
Admit it, you have a medallion you want to show off! :oP
Just wear one for the ceremony then take if off after the photographs have been taken.
That way, you're not stuck in a tie all day AND you're not stuck with your wife nagging all day either.
*not that I'm suggesting women nag, but I would be most upset if my fiance couldn't be bothered to wear a tie for such and occasion when a suit is being worn*
