I'm not after sympathy here before anyone starts....I didn't get presents really when I was a kid as I was brought up in local authority care as I had a crap mother. My dad died when I was 8 years old. I always make sure my 3 kids get good pressies now though even though the 2 oldest are 18 and 20 now.
i had a take that themed birthday party one year, everything was take that, i loved it. my mum had a cake made at the bakers with robbie william's face made out of icing on it. at the time i thought it was amazing, looking back, it looked like sh!t. i was so happy though:) (not quite a present...)
Now That's What I Call Music 4 - was just starting to get into pop music and couldn't believe that there was so much on one album, or that my parents (who seemed ancient) had got it soo right!
best present was a moulded pond, It gave me so much enjoyment, I loved it, the frogs, tadpoles, odd goldfish, the time I spent there next to the waters edge was magical.

i got a second hand ralgeigh tomahawk from my second cousin. i loved it, it was red and i thought i was the coolest kid in town. ive no idea what happened to it. must ask mum.....
Every year I asked for a disguise outfit (plastic set of false glasses, mustache etc) Never got it. But I got a bike once, which I remember being very proud of. Until I got too tall for it, and kids used to laugh at me. (scarred me forever that did) lol
I'm not quite sure what you mean cointreau. My mum has done many things to me during my life to bring me to the conclusion that she's a crap mother. But I will admit that her being so crap has made me the strong person that I am today.
sorry daffy, I did not mean to sound harsh. Also I don't want to pry into why you think your mother is crap.
I may sound worse than I am because I am upset about a cat passing away and I don't react very well to that sort of thing. Sorry.
Hi Pixi: Best present ever as a kid: all of them - I liked every xmas, it was the bringing out of the stocking ritual and that still gets me now that I'm big.
My mum used to have a joke that I was going to get an Afghan Puppy every year but it had run away. I am still waiting... awww...
Sorry to hear about your cat cointreau,I know how that feels.I am a cat lover but sadly can't be owned by them any more because of health problems.
I have had many people react strongly to my comments about my mum throughout my life,I even got beaten up for it once. Usually I explain why I feel that way and people are shocked by the things my mum has done.Just one example: I had a cancer scare once and she wouldn't take me to get my test results because she was going swimming.
