Can you think of a good birthday party for a 13 year old girl? We don't want anything like a cinema trip, disco, pizza hut e.t.c. We want it in the house and we want something different

How about a slumber party? Ask a few of her friends round with their sleeping bags, get the make up out, pocorn etc and girly films on...something like High School Musical maybe?
Sleepovers; Nail polish (lots of paper towels in case of spills), hot rollers/curlers and hair accessories to try out new hairdos, maybe even straighteners and hair spray. Home made lotions and potions and face masks http://beauty.about.com/od/skinflaws/a/facemas ks.htm , cucumber slices for covering your eyes and spa supplies - see above link.

Games include one guest stepping out of the room, all the girls hide inside different sleeping bags, then the person has to re-enter the room and figure out which guests are in which sleeping bags. Push the bags closer together to make it more difficult. You can also play "where's my papa" where one girl also leaves the room, the others find a spot in the room and close their eyes tightly. When they are ready, the girl re-enters the room as quietly as possible, and someone has to yell Where's my papa, if they hear the person make a sound. Bit like blind mans buff?

For invitations, use felt and attach a sheet of note paper as your invitation inside. Roll the felt up like a sleeping bag and tie it with embroidery thread as a cute invitation.

Try to get mini marshmallows in another persons mouth - the one with the most on target wins

How about hiring a limo to take them around the town for a bit and when they return have a chocolate fountain and fruit spread made out as a surprise for her and friends? could do a themed dressing thing so they can out in the limo dressed as actresses etc...
A Make Over party. If you look in your local paper you will im sure file a company that provide make over parties for young girls. They bring all the make-up, hair styling products etc and they give all the girls make overs.

You as a parent can advise how far you wish them to go and what tpye of make up styles you would be happy with!

Good luck with whatever you decide :-)

don't want any sleepovers thanks
How many people were you thinking about inviting?
and how long will they have to play if you dont want a sleepover?
I hired a beautician for the night for my daughters 13th, I only invited 6 girls and they all had a treatment, she also gave them a facial lesson, cleanse/tone.moisturise etc with all the girls taking turns to give each other a facial. They really enjoyed it.
Last year we did the home beauty salon thing - didn't bother with paying for someone else to come in. Decided money was better spent on make up itself that would last beyond the day . We set up a table of nail polishes, another with hair accessories , mousse etc and another for the make up table and they took turns to makeover each other.
Chocolate Game - take a large bar of chocolate out of the fridge and put in middle of table with a knife & fork. Put hat, gloves & scarf on table to. Everyone takes turns to throw a die, if you get a 6 you put on the clothes & get stuck in with knife & fork while the others frantically throw dice - when next person gets 6 they have to put on clothes and can eat some choc.

I can only add to some of the other suggestions. I was thinking of a Spa Night. They could have funny fuzzy slippers and wear their bathrobes and do the treatments on each other (with your supervision)
OR Maybe a few friends for a show at the theatre?

This is a hard age! Good Luck!
my daughter went to a hot tub party whic ws a real hit

you can hire hottub for a day, the bring it fill it empty it and take it away

these can be used throughout the year
