what are peoples experiences with using a `trailgator` trailer bike for their little ones? I am thinking of buying one for my 4 year old to sit on.Can i use it in conjunction with a rear mounted child seat that my 1-year-old will sit in.

I havent used one of those but i have a four year old and i use the seat that goes on the cross bar in front of you, its just a saddle with a back bit and a strap, the child then holds onto the middle of the handle bars and it comes with a foot rest. costs about 17. it is really good. not sure if you can use it with a baby seat on the back.
I have never used one. However, it would really worry me to have a child in a trailer behind a bike. I just could never trust the traffic behind and it seems to me that the child would be so vulnerable.

I am not saying I am right - it's just a thought.
I meant to say that I would prefer the type of seat that aims1202 mentions. At least you are in control then.
We have a trailgator for our 5 yr old - it's a tow bar which links his bike to mine or his dad's, rather than being a half-bike like some I've seen. Not sure if you can use it with a rear mounted seat as well. We think its great and have used it to travel miles. You can connect and disconnect it fairly quickly as well, several times on the one trip of necessary.
