Cerazette Pill
4 Answers
I have recently started taking this POP as my GP advised it. My periods have been very heavy since I had my son in Feb '07. Things had got so bad that I have severe anaemia due to the high blood loss, and am also on Iron tablets. My problem is that, I am currently on my first period while taking Cerazette, and while my periods normally last for 4/5 days (but heavy), I have now been bleeding for 12 days. I have been unable to contact my GP, and am a little bit worried now. I feel so weak and tired, which I know is the anaemia, and the constant bleeding won't be helping. Can anyone tell me if this is normal while on Cerazette or not. Thanks in advance.

The pill can cause different side affects in different people, but you should discuss it with your doctor it maybe just a case that Cerazette is just not the pill for you!
Hope you feel better soon.

i was taking it without a break because i have endometriosis and although i had no periods i had break through bleeding all the time. the gp suggested i take 2 tablets and see if that helped and keep increasing until the breakthrough bleeding stopped. in the end i took 4 tablets a day and it worked well.
if you don't need to take cerazette specifically then it would be better to try something else. you could also ask for mefanic or tranexamic acid which should lighten the bleeding.
hope that helps.

Thank you for your answers. I have finally managed to get an appointment with my GP. I have to take a progesterone only pill due to severe complications when I had my son, and it would be dangerous to have to normal pill, or to get pregnant, as much as I'd like too! Hopefully my GP will be able to sort this out, I'm hoping that this is only a temporary side effect. Thanks again, really appreciate you taking the time to help out.
