my mate is having a baby girl and is looking for unusual names and what they mean any ideas

I think it's nice to have a slightly unsual name, mine's not unusual but there aren't that many of us about and I like that.

I always though when naming a baby I'd want to give them a name that fits in with a professional career should they take that kind of path.

Maybe a longer pretty name which can be shortened to something cute.

I always wished my parents had given me a second name (or even a third one) so that I could *choose my own*... instead of being stuck with something I disliked....

Please take note, parents about to be.... give your children more than one name.... so they can choose what to be known as in later life.

I like having a middle name, I think it adds something (and is very useful on Facebook and such) :)

I also think that Lucy Thomas isn't female. I remember reading an answer from her/him/it a few weeks ago and I thought 'This is a 6' 4" transvestite !'

I'm perfectly happy with my name and so are my siblings. My parents weren't infected by the current celebrity culture where celebrities try to out do each other with ever more ludicrous names for their children. Then, those who blindly follow this culture feel the need to follow suit.

I was in court on Wednesday and the Procurator Fiscal was called Lucy and I didnt think any less of her -in fact the Sheriff was called Linda -what a coup in fact for the ladies !!!.

Well, Lucy Thomas obviously doesn't like the name Teigan Paige because it's her own child's name.
Although I do prefer old fashioned names myself, for example I would love to call my future daughter (fingers crossed) Flora Jane or Perdita Rebecca and Gracie is gorgeous too!

I feel quite ashamed to admit that my daughter is called Lucy. I love it.............but then you get other people called it and it can put you right off.
What was your name pre-op Lucy ????? lol

When I was in school, girls would say something like, 'I know something about you, but I'm not telling you.'

Now, it's extremely unlikely that another person, especially a child, would know anything about you that you didn't know yourself.

Also if they really did know something about you and they didn't like you, they would shout it from the rooftops.

I often get the feeling that Drisgirl doesn't like me much and I don't think I'll be invited around for tea anytime soon. So if she did know something about me I'm sure that you would all have heard by now.

So rest assured there isn't anything that she knows.
