'EMO' gangs
13 Answers
Hi
My daughter (10 years old) has come home from school today saying that they have learned about EMO gangs, from her teacher, and how bad they are and I can't seem to grasp what she is trying to tell me. Can anyone give me quick rundown on what this is about?
Cheers

DONT BE SO JUDGEMENTAL!
just because a kid wears black and looks a bit weird doesnt mean their suicidal, most just happen to like the colour- dont lump all kids together!!
and i cant understand why your daughter was being warned about how bad emo gangs are when there are rapists, murderers and other MUCH more dangerous people to be wary of.
i do nderstand in warning of the dangers of not talking about self harming and being aware of the signs but COME ON, most kids are no more of an issue then the enverday moshers and punks of the older generation...

I prefer emos to chaves any day they at least are not, probaly, carrying knives and getting asbos every five minutes.
If a child wishes to become an emo then leave them be it is a phase, only one thing, all ways keep the lines of communication open. Never shout at them, ok may be sometimes, because shouting never got any one any where.
Its part of the self discovery kids go through when they become teenagers.
Both my brother and sister have self harmed, our mother died when we were teens.
My brother is a Goth and regrets now having scars as permanent reminders of the hell hes been through. He is now in a happy stable loving relationship with another goth, and they plan to marry.
My sister though has turned into an unstable adult, she is marriead but i think she may have the start of a mental illness, which sadly appears to be the same as what our mother had.
I have thought about self harming but never actually done it.
I like EMOs i think some of there fashion sense is pretty d@m cool.
Me well im a professional who has taught a large number of EMOs during sixth form, many of whom now appear pretty normal, some are even studying at cambridge!
So there is light at the end of the tunnel, just be there for them.

PLEASE
Do not put down Emos. Chavs are farrrrr worse.
And as long as your daughter is not feeling suicidal or depressed then leave her too it but you might like to warn her of dangers.
Suicide is not the biggest con of emo-society.
Its being ridiculed, bullied and hated by chavs.
That, and parents jumping to conclusions.
The biggest worry here is basically gang rivals. For 11-13 year olds its all about 'Chavs vs Emos' but it usually dies out as they get older.

emo gangs are gay in maleny theres a whole west side gang of them called the "blooddripperz"! that probably why the hip hops took over the east side and became "the bouncers".
the "west side blooddripperz" got their name because they are emo and cut them selves, while the "east side bouncerz" got there name because they bounce to their music.
the emos wear red to show their tribe while the hip hops were blue.
so welcome to m-town.
