I know there must be a few ABers who've been in the same position as my sister-in-law. Her husband, after 35 years of marriage announced this summer he was leaving her and wanted a quick divorce as he was going to live abroad (South America). He told her he'd never really loved her amongst other awful things. She's devestated and feels her life with him has been a big lie. What can I say to her so she doesn't feel like this as it's eating away at her. By the way, the divorce is final and he's gone.

Has he won the lottery or wat? 35y spent at his 'beck & call' clearing/cooking/cleaning after him and he slopes off!

Ur Sis-IL has been spared further slaving after him; she can dance/sing and please herself entirely. The freedom is exhilerating, once you get used to it!

Thank you for your replies. Yes, my brother-in-law could be put into this category redhead. He was a doctor so good job and everything, did the gardening, didn't drink, nothing to blame him for really other than this. It's as if he's been brain-washed. I suppose just listening to her as you all say and with time she'll start looking forward instead of back. Thanks again.
poor womn 35 years of marrige thats more than a life sentance i would suggest she goes to see a counciller to help her rebuild her life a s a strong independant single woman, i hope he gets his just deserts and his tackle goes green and drops off..

LOL zzxxee! She's 60, not the best age to start off again.
Maybe she was a b!tch (all women are y'know) and he'd just had enough - off to pastures new with someone prettier who is nice to him! Sorry to generalise, but it's got to work both ways.
your never to old to start again xxx
