Is the child still in full time education? If so then you could be entitled to some help.
by looking after do you mean full time or for an hour after school?

i m looking after her full time due to family problems - she leaves school next may
These are the rules on child benefit which are applicable in your case.

I would also be looking for some maintenance from one or both parents
if you claim any benefits (IS, JSA, WTC etc) you can probably include her in your claim as a dependant.

shouldn't the parents be paying toward her up-keep?
