Is there any way I can find out how much my ex-husband earns without going through the CSA? He only pays me 190 per month for my nine year old boy and I think he should be paying more.

Hi Willow

Dont think there is apart from asking him & it is unlikely he will tell you. Dont take this the wrong way as it is not meant 2 sound bad but do u not think thats good what u get?

Ive had about 40 in the last 6 months from my childs "father". Its a joke.
Wish i got what u get.
Even going through the CSA might not make your ex pay any more, willow - it could even be reduced if he could prove that he's stretched already. I think it'd depend on the rough earnings that you know of, and what commitments he has to pay out of this - e.g. mortgage.
I don't know if theres another way to find out how much he earns.

The CSA would make him pay 15% of his take home wage. 190 is 15% of 1266 (? correct me if im wrong, my maths are pants). So maybe that helps you gauge if he should be paying more, but I suppose only if you have a rough idea of what he earns. Be wary of going down the CSA route as unless the absent parent is co-operative they are absolutely useless. Also if the award they make is less than what he gives you now you may find yourself worse off.
Pass your son over to him to keep & you pay him 150pm!

Also bare in mind that if you are on benefits, the government will take most of what he pays to cover your benefits. If you are claiming benefits you will find yourself a lot worse off.
