new years eve with kids

i know it is early to think about new year eve yet but i need inspiration as to what to do ,my hubby likes party things i have tried pontins but they dont seem to be open new year.anyone know of hotels that are quite reasonable that cater for young kids.we live on the south coast.thanks

It might be worth checking out your local working mens clubs and such like.

Every year the Boo family go to out local Irish club on NYE where they hold a private party. The tickets are �3 per person and you each take a tray of buffet food. They have a childrens party, with games and prizes and a disco. The kids have a ball and the adults get slightly plastered (oh ok, just me then) on the really cheap booze!

Not sure if you're taking the p1ss there or not sqad! But frankly I don't care...lol

All I can say is that it's true, it doesnt sound glamorous, but I can assure you trying to 'get out' on NYE with a little one in tow is no easy task.

I fail to see anything wrong with spending a very enjoyable evening in a private room in a club watching your small one having an utter ball and where you can have a drink (or 10!) and a boogie on the dance floor (when the 10 drinks have kicked in)

I fail to see why you can't stay in with the curtains drawn, a bottle of the good stuff and a decent book feeling smug that you've avoided the pointless crowds staring at gun powder going off in the sky, ridiculous prices of booze, the mission impossible maneuvers to get to the actual bar to be served said booze, the frantic 'grab a grope' at 11:55 and the total waste of time that is discussion of new years resolutions which will be broken a week later.

Or is that just me? ;0)

that sounds like a good idea,thats what we want to do,we have a baby but he will possible sleep in the pram but our 6yrold will join in the fun.thanks for that ,will check out a social club.

Yes the children stay up to see it in Sqad, and I think you missed the tray of food point. EVERYONE takes in a tray of food, and then it's put out buffet style.

Take the pi$$ all you want Sqad, but after your recent relevations of parenthood- i'll stick to having fun with my children my way if you dont mind, as frankly yours suck and my children appreciate me- do yours?

And there's your philosophy on parenthood in a nutshell Sqad, your children and their happiness is un-important to you, so why bother coming into the family category at all? Was it just to take thew pi$$ out of me?

As I said ,your views on children and parenthood in general mean diddly to me or indeed anyone who even remotely cares about their children. So forgive me if I try to help another poster on trying to find ways to spend time with their kids and enjoy them.

portsmouth is where i live.family life is important and yes my 6yrold daughter would love to dance and stay up until midnight and have fun with her parents.i am in my late 40,s and my kids are my life.I am usually strict with bedtime but once a year i think its lovely to have your kids with you.

Boo...I didn't say that their happiness was unimportant to me,all I said was that I have never asked them if they appreciated me which wasn't importanr to me.......something quite different.

Exactly hannah, my little one is normally in bed by 7 each night, however like you've said the odd occasion of staying up to enjoy family celebrations certainly doesn't do them any harm.

Please ignore sqad, he admitted last week that out of 4 of his children 2 he disliked and the other 2 he tolerated, so please take his views on parenthood with a massive pinch of salt. I apologise once again though for squabbling on your thread.

china doll yes in a way i agree with you i am not bothered with new year last year i stayed home and waited until midnight looked out of the window and saw fireworks .kids had been in bed since 6pm usual bedtime.so we thought this year lets do some thing different,we are older parents all my friends have grown up kids they would have us for newyear but not the kids ,we dont have family around to baby sit any more ,so the alternative is lets go out and take the kids to.

I'm just joshing hannah - well sort of, I generally hate new years eve - but like anything around that time of year I think it's fun for kids.

Are you a member of any church? They often have social club events at new years eve, my mum used to do the bar for them when I was a kid. Probably be the type of thing you're after.
