It's your child and thats finall... I chose my future babys names with my hubby a while back being portuguese I chose a name that could easily be portuguese or englisha nd be pronounced correct in both languages... Think anyone carred that I thought about every, course not....
we chose Gabriela for a girl (Gabi) and Rafael for a boy (Rafa)... certain people like one name and not the other and some people don't like the fact that I will call them shorter names... But you know what I don't care and neither should you as long as you and your partner love the names...
I personaly love the names, they are beautiful don't change your mind for no one, and good luck with the pregnancy :)

I wanted to call my son Harvey, but everyone laughed when I said it so I chose something else. I still think it's a lovely name but kids are mean enough to each other without saddling them with a name that might be laughed at.
I've only heard of Eli from Emmerdale, and it wouldn't be my choice... but hey, it's your child.. your shout :o)

Charles Lamb the poet wrote under the name Elia Lamb, which is almost the same as Eli, so it isn't just Emmerdale. Eli is often referred to in the Bible and is the name or title of priest, so it has very good provenance. Whatever name you choose it will become easier to say with time and I am sure that if your child doesn't like it he will find a way of changing it to a nickname, so don't let other people dictate to you. Your baby, your choice of name.
I seem to remember a couple giving their beloved child the names of the complete Man. United football team. The registrar said that they must reduce the number to a reasonable figure, I can't remember what they eventually called the child.
