That is so true dizmouk.
It would be a shame if webb is being excluded for the reason of punishing him because he left them.
I wouldn't put up with it. I like the idea of having a private party afterwards though, I've had the same thing happen in my family.
Additional: Just call me diz or dizmo :)
Hi Diz. In an age where many families are split this problem arises. My theory is, the couple should invite who they want at the wedding and not be swayed by family squabbles from either side. It's only for one day and adults should be able to get along for the sake of the two people who are getting married.
This seems to me though (reading between the lines) that webb's daughter is still hurting from him leaving and this is his punishment.
Shame, but it happens.
If webb plans a family get together, as I have suggested, and this offer of an olive branch is turned down, then I'm afraid he has a lot of making up to do to gain his Daughters affection again.
You have had a lot of sound advice on this issue , and I can agree with all of it.But for me if I wanted to see my daughter getting married , I would have to go to the church by myself ,sit right at the back and leave before the couple made their exit.Because although this may cause waves amongst whoever, I would not be able to live myself if I allowed other people to make a decision on this for me, not if I really wanted to see the actual marriage.
Sorry this probably will not help you in your decision , but felt it was an alternative view.Good luck .Brenda.
thats good advice brenda ,think thats what i would do ,although when i posted it took it that the ceromony was in a registy office where this is would be impossible ,if it is a church wedding where you can go unnoticed webb i would take this advise.

i really hope things turn out good for you please let us know what you decide as there will be a lot of other families in the same situation as you

all the best for 2010

I feel sorry for you that your daughter is listening too much to her Mother. My partner has 4 of a family all grown up now and they all hate me, the other woman. When his daughter and his son were married I had to take a back seat and stay at home , the only place I wanted to be as I certainly would have felt out of place there. Their Mother and Father just acted as parents and everything went well for the occassion, If I were you I would stay at home too rather than be humiliated at the wedding and maybe her mothers side not even speaking to you, you would feel awful, just wish her well and keep in good terms with your daughter, I hope that her new husband will treat you with respect and when the grand children come along you will be there for them all, best wishes for 2010.
