Hi all,
I stopped taking the pill in April 07 to try to get pregnant. Basically from then, I only would have a very light period maybe once every 3-6 months. I had a scan to check for Polycystic ovaries which was negative. I eventually conceived with clomid. Since having my daughter last December, my periods have been back to the same- once a blue moon and very light. (I didn't go back on the pill)
Then, mid November I came on. Then 3 weeks later, then 2 weeks after that. Like a normal period. I went to the Doc yest and she said they would do my smear this week (which is due in Feb anyway) as anything 'not usual' should be investigated.
I'm so worried now. When I had my last smear 3 years ago I had to go back 3 times as it kept coming back as unreadable.
Can it just be that I will just always have erratic periods for no reason?

Not for "no reason"...the reason may be hormonal and not due to underlying disease.

Thanks for the reply.
So, if its hormonal, must this be treated or can I just carry on as I am?
No reason for treatment unless your periods get heavy, develop post coital bleeding, or other associated symptoms.
You are probably fine. It is common for women to have irregular periods. You could learn more about natural health like herbal remedies to regulate you cycle. This will help you in case you want to have another child.

I find that Vitex is a very good remedy for irregular menses and it has helped many women achieve hormonal balance.
All the best!
