Twinings is a world leading brand of tea. Twinings sells a variety of regional and flavoured teas such as Lapsang Souchong, Earl Grey and Darjeeling as well as fruit infusions, Green Tea, white tea and decaffeinated Redbush tea. Tea has been drunk in China for thousands of years, and now it is the quintessential English drink.

Thomas Twinning started selling teas from his coffee house as he was sick of drinking ale in the morning. In 1706 he opened the first tea room and his promise of quality soon made tea the most popular drink among the working classes.

Once tea was established as a staple drink in England, trade between the Far East particularly India and China and Europe was established. This trade contributed to Britain's global dominance by the end of the eighteenth century.

On average, a cup of black tea has about half the caffeine of a cup of coffee. Green tea, white tea and Oolong tea also contain caffeine. Redbush tea is made from a different plant, so it’s naturally caffeine-free. Tea is high in anti-oxidants which help to reduce free radicals in the body.

Only the top 1-2 inches of the mature plant are picked. These buds and leaves are called flushes. A plant will grow a new flush every seven to ten days during the growing season.
