Award winning Cask Ale from Thornbridge Brewery

A citrus dominated India Pale Ale, its immediate impression is soft and smooth yet builds to a crescendo of massive hoppiness accentuated by honey. An enduring, bitter finish.
Great with a Curry !
If you come across it in any of your regular Pubs or further afield, try it and see for yourself as you wont be disappointed !

After your, admittedly very vivid, description, I'm sure I would.

It doesn't last long in any of the Pubs I visit.
They have an even stronger one called.. Saint Petersburg @ 7.4% which I have not come across as yet, but still looking
I approve of such threads but I too am more into the thick dark variety of beer than those resembling lager brews. Still if I come across it I may be tempted to try. Having said that, alcoholic strength is not necessarily something I seek out. Just got to appeal to the palate.
I'm sure it is very good, but it's just not my cup of tea, so to speak.

Plenty of Dark Porter Beers around Old-Geezer which I like myself.
Grendel's Winter Ale brewed by Beowulf is an excellent one @ 5.8%
Haven't tasted a real or decent beer for ages. We have a real ale pub not too far so must save up the pennies.
I'll but ya a pint alba. in a ladies glass of coarse.
Question Author
It will do you good to have a good Pint of proper Beer, alba ! Go and treat yourself !!

Hi Ed !
Both Rowan and myself are Camra Members and are trying new Beers every week.
Would be pleased to contribute Ed, as NoMercy does with Wine of The Week !! :-))
Jaipur ...... our favourite! You can buy it bottled in Waitrose but does sell out very quickly. Try visiting the brewery In Bakewell - informative visit with a free glass at the end and tastings of some of Thornbridge's best.
Question Author
Would like to do a Tour of the Brewery as well jaynethepain, and sample some of their other Beers
I ought to try beer more often!

I quite like Leiffe (sp?)
Question Author
Hi NoMercy !
Like Leffe myself as it's good Belgian Beer.
They brew different Leffe's and it is quite strong
Tell me about it. They only serve it in small glasses, don't they?
Question Author
We often go to the Post Office Vaults in Brum where they have a Catalogue of Continental Beers i.e Belgian, German,Czech, etc
All are served in appropriate Glasses, roughly 1/2 Pint as they are strong.
Very nice though.
Tried one a few weeks back, it was 14%.....more like a liqueur than a Beer
Are you NoM in men's clothing, redman?
Question Author
LOL DT !!
Sounds like it doesn't it !!! :-))
The way you have written that review, yes!

I too, being originally of Northern origins, prefer my browner ales - what happened to a good old fashioned "black and tan"

We have a stonking good one brewed near here called "Goshen", a small farm brewery - it's worth keeping the eyes peeled for that one here in the SW! (Don't think they venture too far - yet)
