roast beef in slow cooker

anyone done it and how did it turn out?
i'm thinking brown the meat first and chop some veg put in the bottom and sit the meat on top
not sure about liquid and for how long?
there are so many diff recipes online and all say something different, im so confused!

cook in the gravy

It's lovely. Brown all the edges first in a frying pan. Put it in slow cooker, cover it with beef stock with a glass of red wine and plenty of black pepper. Chuck in a roughly chopped onion and some bay leaves. Time to cook it for rather depends on the size of the joint.Take it out to rest 20-30 mins before you plan to eat. Strain the stock and thicken to make the gravy. It'll be the tenderest beefy beef you've ever had.
