Hi planning a family roast dinner tommorrow, feeding 8 adults and 2 kids. Iv'e bought a pack of brisket its 2.815kg in two bits. its says 40 mins per 450g plus extra 40mins. But because its in two parts do I cook it for the whole time or half since it should be quicker to cook if in two parts. Or am I just being really daft?

cheers

I would say you need about 3 hours to cook brisket. Put your joints in a tin with water cover with foil . High temp for 30 mins then turn oven down to medium for rest of time.
I always cook my brisket in the slow cooker, base filled with chopped vegetables, herbs and some stock, or wine - 8 hrs later, lovely!!!!!
I slow cook brisket too. If you haven't got a slow cooker you can slow cook it in your oven.
Take it out of the fridge now so that it is room temperature when you cook it.
Cover with plenty of stock, including wine if you like, onion, carrot, seasoning and cook for at least 5 hours.

Thank you for all your answers, I do have a large slow cooker but its not big enough to hold this amount, always just done stews in it. My cooker has a slow cook , will use that, in all the years of cooking have always done chicken, pork or ham. Thought I'd have a change, so looking forward to it. love a good roast.
