No one appears to have mentioned that the danger with rice is if it is not cooled down quickly after it has been cooked. Bacillus cereus contaminates rice and other foods, leading to severe but short-lived food poisoning. Personally, I would cook my own and eat it straight away. If you must keep it rinse it in cold running water until completely cold and chill straight away. Bought cooked rice will be treated like this so should be safe.
