Another option is an unleavened dough like a chappati one allowed to dry a little before baking this gives a lovely thin crisp base

That sounds better AYG and Helen...I don't actually like pizza much. I do like the toppings though :-)

Thank you all...I am taking the advise on board x
you could put the toppings on your naan breads :o) - I get you method for those of you later......then again maybe not - supposed to be being good :o(
Jees - my typing and spelling has gone all to pot today!!!
French bread pizzas or slice a ciabatta in half and use that?
"B00...I told you...I only have boys in this house. They leave me alone when I'm in the kitchen!! "

In that case...you go to Tesco, but the 50p pizzas...and a telly, then install telly in kitchen, and watch that whilst you're "slaving" over the pizzas...job done!

;-)
We make our own pizza dough every week for "Pizza Saturday".

The recipe we use (from memory ) is:

500g bread flour (white, brown or mixture)
2 tbsp olive oil
1+ 1/2 tsp salt (or less if too salty)
2 tsp sugar
1 x 7g sachet of fast action yeast
250g water.

Stick in bread maker or mix by hand and knead then leave for an hour and a half.

Roll or stretch (i can't stretch it but my missus can) onto lightly greased baking trays and add the usual sauce and toppings.

Will make 2 pizzas.

Takes about 10 mins in a fairly hot oven.

Well worth the small effort involved.

Thanks Andrew...you're a star x
ummm - I can think of many adjectives to describe Andrew but 'a star' is NOT one of them. :-)

Okay...

Thank you Andrew :-) You complete and total godsh!te!!! xx

Better, Wolf??
Sadly, Wolf and I do share that characteristic, so I can't really take exception.

Let me know how the pizza goes.
Question Author
I will do. Thank you very much..
Found my book - similar proportions to Andrew:

225g strong flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp easy blend yeast
1 tbsp oil
175 ml warm water
Flour for dusting.

That makes 2 smallish or medium thin pizzas. I tend to make half as much again but don't increase the salt and my recipe doesn't specify any sugar either.
ummmm - much better. Andrew is an excellent cook - unlike his sister who could burn a ready meal.

I hope that you enjoy your pizza.
