hi, can you use REALLY REALLY stale bread for this? i have a home made loaf that's 1 week old so you can imagine how hard it is - will it go soggy, or will i be breaking my teeth?

staler the bread the better it soaks up the custard mix but use extra custard to compensate

Just keep the mould out & add more milk to moisten.
