And i use normal hens eggs....

Do supermarkets sell goose eggs!?

Do they taste different or have different uses?

No offence Old_geezer, but unless your taste buds are knackered there is a difference in taste the type of eggs you buy.

@tinkerbell23 I've seen quail eggs sold in Asian supermarkets. Not really worth the bother really, it's a b*tch to peel when hard boiled.

I have never to my knowledge had quails' eggs, but as I understand it they are something of an affectation for those with more money than sense.

we have a few free range hens at home and they lay white eggs but very tasty due to what we feed them on. Thats the secret the food they eat affects the flavour and colour of the yolk but the shells dont change colour. In fact its our biggest black hens that lay white eggs with very rich tasty yolks!

What I have never understood is this: Most birds lay during the breeding season then rear their chicks. How come hens seem to lay on a daily basis? I admire their stoicism; if a lady had a baby every day she might well have cause for complaint.

Many hens lay white eggs. I have a black wyandotte ( http://www.google.co....=9&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0 )
and she lays white eggs. Years ago, someone decided that brown eggs looked more appetising and all commercial hens were bred to produce brown eggs. The white eggs taste just the same as the brown eggs from my ex-bats. Generally, if a hen has white earlobes it lays white eggs. There is even a hen, Araucana, which lays blue eggs.

Well, all egg taste testing I've seen on TV and whatnot has confirmed the colour of the hen egg makes no difference. Maybe in the type but not the shell colour. Maybe it is all in the mind ?

Also, hens don't seem to give a toss if someone comes along and removes the eggs from the nest and pops them in a basket. Try doing that with a seagull or a swan.
