Sainsbury's Taste The Difference Petit Chablis.

A well structured, rounded and elegant white with flavours of citrus and crisp green apple. Excellent to drink on its own or to serve with roast chicken and creamy pasta dishes.

Available for the normal price of £7.99. ABV 12.5%.

ABV 12.5% is my kind of wine ;-)
Question Author
What wines do you normally go for, Mrs O? X
To my shame I am a Lieb/Reisling drinker. Blue Nun, Black Tower and Mateus Rose are wines I enjoy.
I do (hopefully) display some taste as the only red I like is Chateau Neuf du Pape
I could live on Veuve Cliquot
All sane people could live on Veuve Clitquot !
Chablis ... the perfect wine for people who "don't like Chardonnay".
Well this weekend I shall be drinking a bottle or two of Heidsieck & Co Silver Top Monopole 2002 :

http://www.simplywine...Prd.asp?idproduct=764

A stunningly good bottle of vintage fizz - probably actually worth the current asking price, but I bought a case a year or so ago for about £20 per bottle (smug, smug)
All round to Dave's !
Question Author
Dave, I think the Monopole is currently on offer in Tesco to celebrated Mother's Day - £19.99 down from £29.99. :-D

JJ... Had a bottle on my last birthday. :-)
If it's the 2002 then fill yer boots - cracking wine & a good price :-)
I don't think I could tell the difference between different years.

=0(
Nor me - just that I know I like the 2002 :=)

I had another bottle of the Co-op's Fairtrade Argentinian Torrontés Chardonnay last night. One of the most beautiful whites out there and it's less than a fiver!
I was in asda this afternoon - Marques de Monistrol vintage cava only £5 for white or pink.

It's the 2008, rather than the 2007 which the co-op had, but I took a punt on half a dozen (rude not to really).
From here, the Chablis Prem Cru I had was, well too oaky, almost American. Still have 1/2 bottle in fridge if you want to know which to avoid.

Morador, Fairtrade Malbec, Sainsburys £5-99 down from 8. Dark berry fruit, slightly jammy and pleasant. A little of the rosemary thing I tend to get from Malbec too. Big tannins in this one, could do with a bit more balance but perhaps the young age. It's a nice Malbec and good for the price.

Errazuriz, Merlot, Chile same as above and the price and discount. Not as good - not balanced, taste of platiscine in it, wine closed - then there is cream, too much tannin and too much acid. This is a poor wine that tastes of pretty much nothing. Avoid

Piccini, Memoro, Tuscany Italy £6-49 (down from £9-49) Tesco Fruit forward, almost a bit jammy, nicely robust, showing some oak and good exotic spices.Decent acidity and balance.Actually very good considering the low price. Buy....serious.
The malbec sounds good DT - it's becoming my 'go to' grape when eating out - usually a tad more sensibly priced than the more conventionally well known bottles.
Despite their hostility re the Falklands, the Argies do have some good wines, Dave. If you ever get the chance to try a 2008 Mendel 'Unus'
Malbec, grab it, its superb - it's not cheap (somewhere around £25 - I can have a look for you)

2008 Decero Remolinos Vineyard Malbec and the 2009 Noemia A Lisa Malbec are very good ones, more in the £12 to 15 range.....

Wine Soc does it at £25 and there are other outlets - if interested let me know which town you are in

Thanks for the tip about the Marqués de Monistrol, Dave. I'll grab some tomorrow.

DT... I will try the Piccini and give you my verdict next week.
Warwick/Coventry DT - I'm aways interested in any good wine merchants
