If I were to make this do you think it would taste nice or disgusting, would it work as a concept?

What I'm thinking is to make a pastry case, fill it half way with some mincemeat (ie as in mince pies from christmas, not mince), top it off with some goats cheese and bake?

Any thoughts?

It does sound an interesting combo... I'd try it. let us know how it went.
Yes but Arksided is a goat - he will eat anything.
Spiced fruit CAN work with goats cheese but I would be more inclined to do fill pastry parcels and add spinach or caramelised red onions.

I was thinking of making creamed spinach but then incorporating goats cheese to thicken and make a nice dip. Any thoughts, anyone?
I often have cheese with mince pies, but not goats cheese.
trust me Hopkirk no amount of basting yourself will tempt me.
short answer. bleurrgh.
Glad you're not inviting me to dinner.
I would give it a go - love sweet and savoury together.

Well, I made 12 of them with various combinations including mincemeat, caramelised red onion and tomato. There are currently none left so I'm taking that as a good sign. They will be on the menu again. Nyum. Will post a pic later, can't do it from the phone.

One thing is for sure, I'm making my own mince pies this year. I must get a recipe for mincemeat even though the jar that I used for this was very nice.
Nice plate.

Lol, yes that particular plate is only used for special occasions and photo shoots.
I bet it tasted good! Some years ago, I was reading a James Herriot book and it mentioned that a tradition in Yorkshire was to eat Christmas cake with a slice of cheese on top. We tried it ourselves and it was very tasty. Going on that, I guess that the mincemeat and cheese mixture was one that would work. I will have to give it a go myself this Christmas!
Last Christmas, I made mince pies topped with marzipan and baked those, they were very tasty as well.
Thanks for the idea.
Sue
No thanks!

Each tit own.
my friend did the same thing but with cream chees and it was amazing

just try a few... goats cheese is nice with sweet flavours so its unlikely to be a disaster even if you arent that keen on them
Question Author
Yeah, they were nice and I'd do them again. Saying that I thing the caramelised onion played a big part.
