A man's voice said,'Is it DHL?' I said 'You are DHL or is this DHL?' he said, 'I am having a curry', I said 'You're having a curry?' (I was standing near the till point and the staff and several customers could hear me), he repeated' Yes I am having a curry', I looked at the staff and said into the phone, 'Why are you telling me you are having a curry? This is WH Smith', he said, 'No you are confused I am having a curry' I said (with a great deal of difficulty due to the looks from the staff who were in hysterics) 'I'm not confused this is WH Smith and I don't need to know that you are having a curry', he said goodbye and rang off.
I could potentially have misunderstood him but I did not mishear him.
to be honest, I think he was actually asking if we were DHL and if we offered a courier service, but just in case he reports me to head office for being facitious (sp) i'm sticking with my total belief that he was telling me he was having a curry, cos he didn;t say he needed a curry, etc etc etc
I used to work in Stalybridge ,which is part of Tameside, we were waiting for an engineer coming from the Midlands, when the phone went,it was the engineer whereabouts on Tyneside are you??????
