Well done kate, What happened with the engine in your sons car ?.
ermmm....why not let son sort himself out a hire car instead? you cannot shoulder all of the costs, surely? (in terms of paying for and getting plenty of taxis). if it is going to cause you financial hardship, insist he helps you out with some of it....my son is 19 and although he lives at home, he is financially independent and sorts himself out x
Oooh Kate, your soup sound lovely. Sorry to hear about your son's car - bit of a bummer if he needs it for work. Sounds like you need to see your doc soon; can't be fun with that number of nosebleeds. Well sun is shining here today in Dundee, so I might get some weeds howked out.
but apart from that, all sounds like it's going swimmingly really kate ;( x

he had to call out the A A and he has not to drive it,its dead,he said it was a crack in the engine and would cost about £1000 for a new one,we drove to dundee to get him home and we stayed for a couple of days, his flat is nice but to big for one person.
Cars and computers are sent to test our patience.
Kate, some hire companies deliver to your door, get him to phone one, that way you'll still have yours. xx
Righto kate, just wondering what caused the engine to crack !.
I hope your son's giving you money towards the cost of the taxis - it's very generous of you, but why should you be so out of pocket?
Question Author
he seen a car yesterday,he decided to go for it,he is away to the showroom just now.
lcg76.i do this for my son because he is so good to me,i depend on him so much,if it wasnt for him i would be looking at a nursing home,he will be back on thursday if the car is still available
fingers crossed he gets it kate xx
Good luck kate, hope he gets this car.
Question Author
by the way i'm not allowed to drive,i need a driver which my older son does and takes me to appointments etc.
Hey Kate, what a shame for your son. I hope he gets the car today xxx
there will be a community transport service in your area - you still have to pay but it'll be cheaper than a taxi
Question Author
bedknobs, who organises the community transport service ?
been there, done that, everything seems to happen all at once doesn't it.hope all improves with the old nose bleeds!good luck.hope your son realises what a great mom he's got!!
Would'nt a car be a 'write off'.
Genuine question. Not being pedantic.

thetaliesin, you are the only one thats ever pulled me up for my grammer or wrong spelling
kate - i wasn't being judgemental, just concerned that you weren't going to be ok if you lent your son the car. do talk to him if things are going to be very strained for you financially - i'm sure he wouldn't want you to struggle. and why shouldn't he be good to you? you sound as though you do a lot for him too! x
I cracked my engine once (plus damage to the rollers!!) I was told it would cost 3k to fix. My cam belt snapped while I was driving. Luckily Vauxhall paid for a new engine.
