Despite having owned one (I eventually gave it away) I have never cooked using a slow cooker and find some of the recommendations on here for wonderful recipes quite baffling......no offence intended to slow cooker fans!
What have you never done, guilty secret or secret weapon in the kitchen?
I have got a mini slow cooker, it saves me a fortune in fuel costs; also I put dinner on in the morning when I am feeling energetic and when it gets to the end of the day and I CBA to cook, there is dinner all ready
slow cookers are great - i like the fact you can just leave them on and go out (something i would never do to something in the oven or on the hob. I also sometimes just chop up ingredients and freeze them raw in a bag, then just get it out of freezer in the morning, put in slow cooker and turn on - ultimate fuss free cookery. My confession is i can't poach eggs (wish i had bluestones egg poacher!) and also i can't make white sauces
I have a slow cooker and it is a great thing for me because I work such strange hours (ie I might not have to go out until midday, but then won't be home until 7ish).
I have NEVER made a shepherds pie and until recently I had never made a fish pie.
My secret weapon is my "little knife", which I use for just about everything I can. When Mr BM recently "borrowed" it and misplaced it I felt like I'd lost my best friend.
