Tricky one this!

How would you describe the taste of alcoholic drinks to tee-totals that have never tasted it. I'm talking really about lager, guiness, and spirits such as vodka & whiskey.

A muslim girl i work with is intrigued to know what the taste is like...obviously she hasnt tried it

Could she perhaps just taste but now swallow, as wine tasters do? That's the only way she'll find out properly what they taste like, but without actually consuming it?

You can often get quite a good idea of taste by smelling the substance.

Depending on how strictly she follows the rules, could she put her finger into a glass of scotch & touch it on her tongue? ie not actually drinking? I know all these rules are subject to degrees of interpretation.
