Do those prickers work where you make a small pin prick in the eggshell.

Which end do you pierce, the round end or the pointy end. I ask this because I get cheesed off with the yolk spilling out into the water and you get left with a boiled egg with just the white bit.

Have never pierced an egg for boiling.
I never pierce mine.............
I had an egg boiler that used the egg pricker. It does work but they are easily smashed.

If your eggs are cracking in the water you are boiling them wrong. Are you putting them in cold water? If not you should be.

I bought a gadget which has a little pin which pierces the shell, the yellow still spills out. Maybe shop eggs are not as tough as free range.
When boiling eggs, I don't prick the shell.

Eggs at room temperature, into boiling salted water and just wait a wee while.
do you put the eggs into cold water and bring it to the boil or do you put the eggs into boiling water as i find they crack that way - but its only a bit of white that comes out, i;ve never seen the yolk manage to escape leaving the white behind....
They crack when they are put into boiling water.
Especially if very cold, I have never fridged eggs.

I put them in cold water, bring to a simmer and wait 10 mins for hard boiled. 5 mins if i want to dip soldiers in.
But does that matter?
I put mine into boiling water and they don't crack, I don't keep my eggs in the fridge though.
ssssh sometimes I need to get hard boiled eggs quickly for their butties for work and college :-)

It must be the easiest thing to boil a flipping egg.

I may abandon the pricker thingy.
I always pierce mine..it's the round end where the small air sac develops.
10 mins for hard boiled, you could use them for ping pong balls.
5 mins for soft? oh No, pied, no , no, no :-)
That was for ummmm

I put eggs in pan with a small amount of water and boil the kettle , I have no patience to wait for a pan of water to boil.
Question Author
I thought it was the pointy end, when you buy eggs they seem to be in the box that way.
Pieds eggs must be black round the edges ....I hate that
i still want to know how the yolk comes out and leaves the white inside????
Mine are pointy side up in the box.

Pied, you have opened a huge discussion y'know :-)
