That's what I was wondering Eccles, but if it chops it may be a winner, that's the bit I hate :)

you only have to rough chop and blade inside liquidises if you want or leaves roughly chopped if you prefer..also an extra blend option at the end for you to make bit less chunky if wanted.does smoothies too. easy to clean hold top bit under tap and just swill out the jug ....really can't praise high enough...

For myself I can't see the point of a soup maker Minty, I like the chopping up of the veg I find it very soothing, and relaxing, and I can still get on with chores while it cooks, and the only washing up I have is my knife, chopping board, and pan - and the "outboard motor" if I blend it smooth. Still it doesn't do for us all to be the same, as long as we are all enjoying the soup at the end of the day it doesn't matter one jot how it got into the bowl!
Informatively, the Morphy Richards is one of the lowest rated soup makers here in the U.S. I might say, though, right along side other U.S. made ones. In fact the only brand that has very high marks appears to be another U.K. brnad... Thermomix ... but that one, although quite serviceable, appears to be the most expensive at nearly $200 (U.S.).
Our brand of choice in most countertop appliances seems to be Cuisinart, and the Thermomix has much higher ratings in all areas than the Cuisinart at about $125...
