Taking All The Wrapping Off Items Whilst At Till!
52 Answers
I was in a huge Tesco's and the woman in front of me decided that she didnt want to take home all the plastic packaging/wrapping on all her fruit and veg and so while she was waiting in line she unwrapped it all - bags of carrots, apples, the lot! then when she got to the till she just handed the empty packaging with the barcode on to the cashier to scan, and said that she refuses to take home unecessary plastic etc. Well the cashiers face was a picture. She was trying to round up all this loose fruit and veg and it did hold up the queue for a bit.
So do you think 'good for her', for trying to do her bit and not take home all this endless wrapping or do you think she was being daft and a bit petty?

However, I'd have left the packaging in the otherwise empty shopping trolley having emptied it all before putting it in my car, and thus not angering the other shoppers. I NEVER use the loose bags, preferring to put stuff straight into my very robust large shopper. Let the supermarkets pay for the removal and they will soon cut down ont he amount they generate needlessly.
OK, its a fair point that there is too much packaging. However, if she was that concerned about being environmentally friendly she would have bought from a farm shop that specialises in local produce and put it all loose into one reusable bag. The fact that she went to Tescos and bought fruit and veg that has probably been shipped halfway round the world, covered in all types of pesticide and then refrigerated for weeks and THEN chose to buy the prepacked rather than the loose stuff tells me that she is a bit thick and a bit up herself.
